News

In a crowded welterweight division, Hector Lombard knows who he wants next.

Currently ranked as the No. 6 fighter in the UFC rankings, Lombard would like to meet the winner of the Tarec Saffiedine/Rory MacDonald bout at UFC Fight Night 54 on October 4. MacDonald currently sits at No. 2 in the UFC rankings while Saffiedine is ranked at No. 10. In an interview on UFC Tonight, Lombard said that he believes beating the winner of the Saffiedine/MacDonald is the best way to put him on track to meet the winner of the Robbie Lawler and Johny Hendricks II showdown.

The long-reigning former Bellator middleweight title-holder is coming off a dominating unanimous decision victory over Jake Shields at UFC 171, and scored a two-minute knockout over Nate Marquardt at UFC 166 in his Ultimate Fighting Championship debut. He currently suffers from a herniated disc that was pinching one of his nerves but says that he won’t need surgery.
