One of the main reasons being the Diaz brothers being as popular as they are is that neither Nick nor Nate try to sugarcoat their opinions.

Nick Diaz (7-6) who just signed a new UFC deal to and will meet Anderson Silva (16-2) at UFC 183 on January 21 to end his 17-month retirement told the media that he doesn’t really enjoy fighting and isn’t violent by nature.

“I don’t recommend anybody be a fighter,” Diaz said. “Fighting is not something that I enjoy doing, it’s something that I do that I feel I have to do. That’s just the way it is. There’s a lot to it. I don’t want to hurt anybody. I’m a non-violent person. I don’t especially enjoy violence. I hate watching people get hurt. Some of these guys come out and say, ‘I just want to hurt somebody. I just love it.’ Sometimes I want to say, ‘You’re full of s–t.’… I do what I do because I’ve got to do it.”

MMAJunkie caught up with UFC boss Dana White at the UFC Fight Night 47 weigh-ins on Friday and asked him to address Diaz’s comments.

“He’s Nick Diaz,” White said. ‘There’s a lot of things Nick says that make him Nick. It is what it is. I believe that he doesn’t enjoy fighting. When you hear him talk about what he does and why he does it – everything that guys says is the reason he is who is who is. The way he fights, his demeanor, all make him Nick Diaz. A lot of people don’t like going to work, but you’ve got to do what you’ve got to do. He might not enjoy it, but that’s what he does and that’s how makes a living. Not everyone is going to love what they do.”
