Summerslam 2014 took place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, and the Summerslam event has been in LA for five straight years.
However, WWE plans to mix it up for Summerslam 2015, and announced that next year’s Summerslam would be in the NY/NJ area.
This year, WWE did far less in Los Angeles, signaling that they felt the time for Summerslam in So-Cal was coming to an end. There were less activities publicized around town, no parties with celebrities, and very few celebrities at the event itself. They did the video game reveal presentation at the Nokia Theatre, which featured panel shows with Hogan, Austin and Michaels & HHH. There wasn’t a Fan Axxess, so NXT and non-booked wrestlers were not flown in, but had been brought in for Summerslam in years past.
