Daniel Bryan News: Critical of WWE Affair Storyline, Best Wrestlers He’s Worked With

News

In an interview with IGN.com, Bryan criticized the current storyline twist with him supposedly having an affair:
Yeah, to me, it’s groan-worthy . Don’t think it added anything to the story. It was just like, Ugh.’ But they do what they do, and you just gotta roll with the punches. It’s funny, because I feel sometimes you just have to overcome these things more so than anything else. Like, Brie and Stephanie have to overcome that flaw. To me, that was a flaw in the story. The story was so good, and then here’s this flaw in it. But its’ whatever. It doesn’t hurt my feelings or anything. It’s entertainment, it’s not real.

It’s considered notable that Bryan would be so negative about a current storyline in a media appearance. Whether he truly believed in the storyline or not, WWE talent rarely criticizes creative in public, because usually it will lead to a receipt from the creative department in terms of an embarassing upcoming storyline. Bryan either doesn’t care or is high enough on the card to get away with it at this point.

Bryan told Dave Meltzer that he watches some of the New Japan G1 Tournament, and that another wrestler who watched was Cesaro.

Bryan also revealed some of his thoughts on his career in Japan, noting that he thinks Yuji Nagata is the best wrestler he was ever in the ring with. Bryan also said one of the best matches of his career that was never taped was with Minoru Suzuki and thinks Shinsuke Nakamura is the best wrestler in the world.
