Stephen Colbert Says He Hopes To Do A Good Job When Asked About Replacing David Letterman

The time is drawing near and as it does, Stephen Colbert says that he is slowly getting ready to take on the unenviable task of replacing David Letterman.

While The Colbert Report host says he is still focused on finishing the 65 episodes of his Comedy Central series, he told TVLine that he wants to just make David Letterman proud.

“I just hope I do a good job, because I love Dave so much,” the comedian told TVLine at this year’s Emmys, where the Report won for Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Series.
