Easy Money For Anthony Birchak & Scott Jorgensen; Fighters Get Paid Even Though They Didn’t Fight

News

Anthony Birchak and Scott Jorgensen are laughing all the way to the bank.

Well maybe not.

The fact is that both fighters are being paid for the matches that they didn’t have on Saturday at UFC 177.

Anthony Birchak and Scott Jorgensen didn’t fight at UFC 177, but they’re getting paid anyway. Birchak was originally scheduled to fight former Bellator MMA champion and fellow UFC newcomer Joe Soto. Jorgensen was scheduled against Olympic gold medalist Cejudo but since both of their opponents couldn’t make weight and were scratched, the UFC has decided to compensate them the base fee for the match and the bonus if they would have won.

Dana White said that the story was not the same for Barao and Cejudo.

“Barao’s not making any money,” UFC President Dana White said (watch the full post-UFC 177 media scrum below). “I’m not paying Barao. Barao showed up and didn’t fight, (and) the other kid (Cejudo) that didn’t make weight. The other kids will get paid.”
