Hector Lombard Has No Issues With Fighting Tyron Woodley; Says They ‘Ain’t Friends’

In a recent interview with MMAjunkie Radio, Hector Lombard confirmed that he has no problems fighting his teammate Tyron Woodley.

“We’re not friends,” he said. “He just comes to use the gym. He doesn’t even live here. It’s not a difficult decision at all.”

Lombard said that he wanted to face Woodley at Las Vegas on January 3 at UFC 181 but that he still was awaiting doctors to clear him to compete after suffering a herniated disc.

“It’s been serious,” Lombard said. “I don’t back up for any fight, but (I had) a herniated disk at the highest level. I have all the proof and the X-rays, so yes, it was very serious.”

Although Dana White asked Woodley to take the fight, he refused and Lombard says that fighters shouldn’t get to pick and choose their opponents.

“The company is so strong because it is what they tell you to do, not because it’s like, ‘Hey, lemme fight in Australia, and I’m going to fight so-and-so.’ What a beauty. ‘Lemme fight over there, and I don’t want to fight three rounds; I want to fight two rounds, and let’s see how it goes.’ That’s not the way it goes.”
