Yesterday, Mike Chiesa said that he would have given up his $50,000 “Fight of the Night” bonus if UFC officials would have allowed his Fight Night 50 match against Joe Lauzon to continue. For his part, Lauzon says Chiesa should “accept his loss like a man.”
The two lightweights met on Friday where midway through the second round, Chiesa suffered a deep gash above his right eye, and a cageside physician halted the bout.
As a result, Lauzon was given the TKO win.
“Everyone’s like, ‘Cheer up, you got the bonus,'” Chiesa told MMAjunkie. “I don’t care. I would give that $50,000 back just to be able to go the rest of the fight.”
Lauzon, posted on social media that “rematches are dumb” after the fight.
