Despite Three Straight Losses, Dana White Says UFC Will Stand By Alistair Overeem… For One More Fight

News

Once upon a time Alistair Overeem was one of the UFC’s poster childs. He signed with the company in 2011 with heavyweight titles in Strikeforce, DREAM, and K1 on his resume. At the time, he was predicted to be the next great MMA heavyweight champion of our era.

Three years later and things have certainly changed.

Following his loss to Ben Rothwell on Friday, Overeem has now lost three of his last four matches. As if it couldn’t get worse, he was favoured to win all three of those losses and not only lost, but was brutally knocked out in all with two coming in the first round.

Despite many calling for him to hang up his gloves, the fighter says that he plans on continuing and Dana White addressed the situation on Wednesday’s edition of UFC Tonight.

“He’s still ranked in the top-10,” White said. “He’s still one of the top-10 heavyweights in the world, and we’ll get him another fight.”
