Fight Against Bigfoot Silva To Determine Whether Andrei Arlovski Stays In UFC?

News

A boring win over Brendan Schaub in June has increased the spotlight on Andrei Arlovski in his upcoming match with Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva this Saturday in Brazil.

After the Schaub fight, UFC President Dana White admitted that he was disappointed in Arlovski’s performance but had enough confidence in the heavyweight to offer him another headlining match.

“Guys have bad nights,” White said. “It’s not like I hate Brendan Schaub or Andrei Arlovski because of it. I just hated that fight.”

For his part, the fighter didn’t disagree with his boss’ assessment.

“I agree with Dana White,” Arlovski said. “It was not my best performance, but at the same time, it was an OK fight. I controlled pretty much the whole three rounds, and look at Scahub’s face. He looked like he was hit by a train. But absolutely, yes, it was so far from my best performance.”

The fight is expected to determine Arlovski’s future in the sport.

“Four years ago, ‘Bigfoot’ whooped my (butt),” Arlovski said. “I really appreciate the opportunity that the UFC gave me to face ‘Bigfoot’ at a ‘Fight Night’ in Brazil. I’m very excited.”
