Mark Hunt’s weight issues ended up being all sizzle and no steak. The portly heavyweight barely cleared the heavyweight limit at Friday’s UFC Fight Night 52 weigh-ins in Japan.

Hunt hit the scales at 264 pounds while his opponent, Roy Nelson tipped in at 260. Prior to the match, many were concerned about Hunt being cleared to fight because of his girth but to the surprise of many, Hunt managed to cut the weight needed.

“One thing I respect about Mark, and Mark respects about me, is we’re both fighters. We just come out and we just put on a show for the fans,” Nelson said afterward, adding, “Me and Mark are going to make it explode.”

Hunt couldn’t hide his happiness about making weight either and said that he cut 19 pounds on Thursday morning.

“I’m ready to fight, man. I’m ready to swing,” the former K-1 champ said with a laugh. “That’s what happening. Someone’s going out and it ain’t going to be me.”
