NSAC Unlikely To Overturn Yoel Romero’s Win Over Tim Kennedy At UFC 178

Despite filing an appeal, it is unlikely that the Nevada State Athletic Commission Will Overturn Yoel Romero’s win over Tim Kennedy at UFC 178.

The appeal is the result of an incident that took place ahead of the third and final round of action in their feature fight on Saturday night. Just after Kennedy was beginning to mount a comeback in the fight, Romero appeared remained on the stool well past the allotted minute. Kennedy grew frustrated with Romero’s antics and pressured the referee to do something about it.

Speaking on behalf of the Commission, Bob Bennett revealed that even though the Nevada administrative code states that a fighter will be awarded the TKO victory if his opponent is unable to answer the bell following the break between rounds, it is unlikely that the decision will be overturned.

“They’re very seldom overruled,” Bennett told BloodyElbow.com “The likelihood of an appeal being overturned is very slim. I’m not going to say it’s not going to happen, but like I initially said, it would be deferred to our legal department.”
