After impressive wins over both Antonio Rogerio Nogueira and Phil Davis, Anthony Johnson appeared to be on the fast track to being Jon Jones’ next great challenge.
Plans for the light heavyweight’s title shot (following a proposed match against Alexander Gustafsson) were detailed when it was revealed that domestic abuse allegations had been filed against him.
On a recent edition of UFC Tonight, Johnson’s manager, Glenn Robinson, revealed that Johnson has a hearing scheduled for the end of the month and is “optimistic” about his client’s chances in it.
Johnson is currently serving an indefinite suspension pending results of a third party investigation ordered by UFC to analyze the legitimacy of the claims made against the fighter.
The company has announced a zero tolerance policy on domestic abuse cases.
