Over the weekend, Wanderlei Silva issued a challenge to Chael Sonnen to meet in the XFC (after both left UFC under the most auspicious of circumstances).
BloodyElbow.com is reporting that Sonnen (who now hosts the “You’re Welcome” podcast) has declined to meet Silva in XFC but would be open to a grappling contest in Metamoris.
Last month, Sonnen commented on this possibility:
“I think it could happen,” Silva told BloodyElbow. “I know that the invitation has been extended to him, and I know we’re just waiting to hear back from him. Metamoris was a lot of fun. Everybody watches it and it’s one of those deals that MMA fans, wrestling fans and jiu-jitsu fans all come together for. But, yes, the offer has been put to him and it’s completely up to Wanderlei at this point.”
