Contrary to previous reports and even a press release from the company announcing his inclusion, Wanderlei Silva will not be helping Bellator promote its event this weekend.
Yesterday, the company announced that Silva wasn’t allowed to participate in its fan event in San Diego at Dave & Buster’s “due to prior contractual obligations.” As previously reported, Silva is still under UFC contract despite his strained relationship with Dana White.
Headlined by Tito Ortiz vs. Stephan Bonnar at the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego, Bellator 131 features Will Brooks vs. Michael Chandler for the lightweight championship in the co-main event.
