Melvin Guillard Misses Weight, Lightweight Match Against Justin Gaethje Is No Longer For The Title

News

Justin Gaethje and Melvin Guillard were supposed to meet for the lightweight title at World Series of Fighting 15 on Saturday, but their match will no longer be for the title because Guillard missed weight today.

Guillard weighed in at 158.8 Friday for Saturday night’s fight in Tampa, nearly four pounds over the championship limit. After coming up at 158.6 in his second attempt, Guillard gave up on the weight cut.

MMAFighting is now reporting that the fight will still happen, but will not be for the title. WSOF officials also told the site that Guillard agreed to a fine of 50 percent of his purse.
