Beth Correia Looking At Spring Return After Undergoing Successful Eye Surgery

News

While MMA fans were looking forward to a showdown between Miesha Tate and Bethe Correia, the match had to be postponed because of an unknown injury to the Brazilian.

Now we know what happened.

UFC Tonight is reporting that Correia suffered a detached retina in her right eye during a training session last month. The injury required surgery and according to Correia’s manager, Wallid Ismail, Correia is looking at a March or April return.

Tate ad Correia were engaged in a back and forth social media sparring session prior to the injury. Correia said that she would beat Tate so convincingly that Dana White would be forced into booking her a title shot against Ronda Rousey. Tate accepted the challenge but is now scheduled to fight Sara McMann in light of the injury.
