Cub Swanson Says He Would Consider Becoming Boxer If He Doesn’t Get Title Shot After Beating Frankie Edgar

It’s unclear if Cub Swanson is joking, but the featherweight says that he would consider a career change if he doesn’t get a title shot after he beats Frankie Edgar tomorrow.

“All I know is that, in my mind, I finish Frankie Edgar, that I’m getting that title shot. That’s all that’s on my mind. If I don’t get that, who knows? Maybe I’ll do something different. Maybe I’ll go start boxing. … It’s something I feel like I’m pretty good at. I actually really considered switching to boxing. All my trainers thought I had a big upside to doing that as a career.”

Swanson could just be stealing a page from Conor McGregor’s book in terms of talking more in an effort to ensure the UFC doesn’t forget about him. That said, he could conceivably move to boxing as well.
