Rasslin Roundtable: WWE Survivor Series 2014

WWE is presenting the 27th annual Survivor Series on WWE Network and PPV. Here is the final match lineup for the show:

survivor-series-2014
Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Tag Team Match
Team Cena (John Cena, Ryback, Big Show, Dolph Ziggler & Erick Rowan) vs. Team Authority (Seth Rollins, Kane, Mark Henry, Rusev & Luke Harper)

CB: So if Team Cena loses, they are fired. If Team Authority loses, Triple H and Stephanie are out of power. The problem is I wouldn’t mind Cena getting fired, except for the fact we all know he’ll just come back as Juan Cena again.

I think there is a swerve coming here, where Cesaro comes down to interfere on The Authority’s behalf, but then Sheamus’ music hits. Instead of Fella helping Cena and Co., however, he turns on them and helps Team Authority secure their victory.

Or I’m all wrong and Orton costs The Authority with RKOs OUTTA Nowhere. I’ll stick with my first inclination…
Winners: Team Authority

Justin Czerwonka: This match really is wide open. I could see it going either way. On one hand, I could see someone turning heel and helping Team Authority win. I thought for sure it would be Sheamus. But he may have actually needed surgery and that’s why he’s out of the match. Or is it just a trick from The Authority? But then of course we would get John Cena fighting to get all of his teammates jobs back, which would not be fun. Of course, if Team Cena wins, who would be in power? I could see something like Survivor Series 2004 when every member of the team is in charge for a week. While the build to this match may not have been great, it at least has a lot of potential outcomes to talk about going into it. I’m going to say Team Cena overcomes the odds and takes the win, leading to a power struggle between multiple parties down the line.
Winners: Team Cena

PK: Unfortunately, HHH threatening to fire everyone when Team Authority wins kind of telegraphs the finish. We should see a great face off between the former Wyatt Family partners, and a good roll from Ryback. However, the only way I think this match will maintain any interest (from me anyway) is if Cena gets eliminated early, and Ziggler and/or Ryback score the win.
Winners: Team Cena

Jake Ziegler:
Winners: Team Cena

T.J. Rutherford:
Winners: Team Cena

Widro: Both stipulations seem like big deals but in reality neither are realistically going to stick. There is no way all five guys on Team Cena are going to be gone from TV, and even if HHH and Stephanie lose now, they will likely be back on TV sooner than later. I think they will have Team Cena win to move the main storylines along and reset for the build to Mania 31.
Winners: Team Cena

WWE Diva’s Title
AJ Lee (c) vs. Nikki Bella

CB: Brie’s time as Nikki’s personal assistant is about to expire, but I have a feeling there will be a swerve here, with Brie actually helping Nikki win, thereby reuniting the Bella Twins as heels.
Winner: Nikki Bella

Justin Czerwonka: Both Bellas have improved from an in ring perspective. They’re acting and promo work is still horrible but their wrestling is getting better. AJ may be finishing up with the WWE, or she may not be. I’m going to go with Nikki winning the Title here, leading to Brie eventually getting her shot at Nikki down the line. If AJ is finishing up with the WWE, I could see a Title vs Career Match down the line.
Winner: Nikki Bella

PK: I don’t believe the internet gossip. AJ scores the win, with help from Brie.
Winner: AJ Lee

Jake Ziegler:
Winners: Nikki Bella

T.J. Rutherford:
Winners: Nikki Bella

Widro: With rumors that AJ Lee is taking some time off, this could seem like a foregone conclusion. It also makes sense for Nikki to get the title and move her issues with Brie into the limelight.
Winners: Nikki Bella

Dean Ambrose vs. Bray Wyatt

CB: I’m looking forward to this match the most, which really stands out being the only traditional (non-Divas) singles match on the card. Ambrose and Wyatt are both crazy, but they are also captivating characters who can put on a good match in the ring. I think they steal the show in a singles career-elevating contest for both post-Shield and post-Wyatt Family.
Winner: Bray Wyatt

Justin Czerwonka: I really want to get into this feud but I just haven’t been able to do so. Maybe it’s because I’ve soured on the Bray Wyatt character, but I feel like it is just the same thing over and over with every one of his feuds. I do expect this to be a long program and I think it will continue to at least TLC. I’m not expecting a clean finish here. I’m guessing The Ascension makes their debut with Bray Wyatt here and aids in a beatdown of Ambrose to end the match, giving Dean the win via DQ.
Winner: Dean Ambrose (via DQ)

PK: This doesn’t have my interest like it probably should have. Maybe it’s because Bray released Rowen & Harper with no real explanation. Maybe it’s because we wanted to see Ambrose vs. Rollins to end. This isn’t the end of the feud, so I expect to see Bray win this with some shenanigans.
Winner: Wyatt

Jake Ziegler:
Winners: Bray Wyatt

T.J. Rutherford:
Winners: Bray Wyatt

Widro: The match will probably be pretty good but the storyline has made little sense. Why wouldn’t Ambrose want to be involved with getting rid of the Authority? An Ambrose win “ends” the feud so I think Bray wins, possibly with help from a new faction.
Winners: Bray Wyatt

survivor-series-2014
WWE Tag Team Title 4-way
Gold & Stardust (c) vs. Miz & Damien Mizdow vs. The Usos vs. Los Matadores

CB: I am hoping Miz and Mizdow get the nod here to bring their STUNT DOUBLE act to the tag team championships. The question is if Miz will hold both real belts and have Mizdow wear two replicas. Either way, I think they win with a Mizdow pin that Miz takes credit for.
Winners: Miz and Mizdow

Justin Czerwonka: You can take Los Matadores and The Usos out of the mix here. Some may not agree with the tag titles going to Miz and Mizdow, but I think that is what’s best for the Titles. What good has putting the Titles on Goldust and Stardust done? Putting the Titles with one of the better acts in the company in Mizdow at least gives the Tag Titles a little bit more spotlight. So I’m picking them here.
Winners: Miz and Mizdow

PK: They would be wise to move the titles to the hot act right now in Miz & Mizdow. The Dust Brothers have had zero character development since they got the Cosmic Keys, and getting less and less of a response.
Winners: Miz & Mizdow

Jake Ziegler:
Winners: Miz and Mizdow

T.J. Rutherford:
Winners: Miz and Mizdow

Widro: I wish this was a traditional Survivor Series match and not just a four way for the tag titles.
Winners: Gold & Stardust

Divas Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Tag Team Match
Alicia Fox, Natalya, Naomi & Emma vs. Paige, Cameron, Summer Rae & Layla

CB: I call this Team Brits and Bimbos vs. Team Breakfast Club a.k.a. Each one of us is A Basket Case, A Canadian, An Australian, and A Dinosaur-Lover. And already I put more thought into this than I should have.
Winners: Team Brits and Bimbos, unless Emma goes into business for herself (checkout) steals the win.

Justin Czerwonka: I don’t know why this match is happening. I guess I’ll take Paige to be the sole survivor because she is the best of the bunch.
Winners: Team Paige (Paige is Sole Survivor)

PK: They could have added a neat stipulation to give the Survivor(s) a title shot, but nope. The only logical winner here is Paige.
Winners: Team Paige

Jake Ziegler:
Winners: Team Paige

T.J. Rutherford:
Winners: Team Paige

Widro: This could open the show, but either way with mostly heels winning, I could see a feel good win for the babyface divas here.
Winners: Alicia Fox, Natalya, Naomi & Emma
