If you were curious to know how much the WWE Network has changed World Wrestling Entertainment’s home video release strategy, you need only look at its yearly compilation of its best pay-per-view matches. Beginning with Best Pay-Per-View Matches 2009-2010 and continuing the compilation line for years 2011 and 2012, the 2013 release was the first to not receive an official Blu-ray release in the U.S. (it did however get one in the UK).
For WWE’s pay-per-view slate of 2014, which goes from January through October, as have the previous compilations, not only will it not get an official release on either DVD or Blu-ray in the U.S., overseas it will only be released as a three-disc DVD set. This is unfortunate as the UK is one of the few places that produce Blu-rays for every one of WWE’s monthly PPVs.
Nevertheless, the set will be comprised of twenty-one matches spanning from the Royal Rumble through Hell in the Cell.
