Edson Barboza might be Brazilian, but he is a Jersey Boy at heart.

After defeating Bobby Green at UFC Fight Night 57, Barboza (9-2) has asked the UFC to book him in a match at UFC on FOX 15 which takes place on April 18 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

“That would be perfect,” Barboza today told MMAjunkie Radio. “I start my training camp at American Top Team, but I finish in Jersey. I hope the UFC gives me the opportunity because I fought there three or four times, and I won all my fights in Jersey.”

Barboza does boast a trio of wins in Atlantic City, where he most recently finished Evan Dunham via first-round TKO at UFC Fight Night 45.

The lightweight fighter says he is also ready for tougher fights.

“I don’t want to name names, but I want to fight guys in front of me,” Barboza said. “You said guys in front of me like ‘Cowboy’ or Khabib (Nurmagomedov); I don’t know man. I want to fight with these guys, and I’m definitely ready for this. I hope the UFC gives me the opportunity.”
