Bellator Expresses Interest In Brock Lesnar, Bidding War With UFC Expected When WWE Star’s Contract Runs Out

It appears Dana White might have some competition on his hands if he wants to bring Brock Lesnar back into the fold.

With Lesnar’s WWE contract almost at its end, many are speculating that the amateur wrestler will return to mixed martial arts. The latest news is that Bellator is interested and this isn’t gossip as the organization’s president openly discussed his interest in acquiring Lesnar’s services on yesterday’s episode of The MMA Hour.

“We’ve had a conversation [regarding acquiring Lesnar] internally and it’s worth a conversation, but that’s something we’ll pursue maybe later into January,” Coker said.

It is clear that Coker is the most interested in drawing attention to his federation and the UFC’s biggest rival and signing Lesnar would accomplish that in one felt swoop.

“I would say, look, any fighter that’s out there or any star athlete – not star athlete in the sense of a baseball player, but like a Brock Lesnar – that really wants to fight, we’re going to have a conversation with them. Because if they can move the needle, we’re going to want them on Spike TV.”

“I think that he’s a big needle mover,” Coker continued. “There have been several years that have passed and I think that he still has the WWE limelight. So, I think that he still has a lot of star power, but to come back and say, ‘Hey, I want to train, I want to commit, I want fight’, that’s going to be a big commitment on his part. We haven’t had a conversation yet, but we’d like to at some point.”
