Alberto Del Rio News: Comments On CM Punk Walkout

News

Alberto Del Rio recently spoke about the night when CM Punk left WWE. It was the Monday Night Raw after the Royal Rumble in January 2014, but before Del Rio also parted ways with the company.

Del Rio compared Punk’s situation with his own, where Del Rio was fired over a backstage incident. The similarity is apparently in that both stood up for what they believed in(?) Anyway it seemed like most of Del Rio’s reaction stemmed around having to do a longer match to fill up the slot that Punk walked out of on that one show.

Del Rio:
He [Punk] went from driving 1000 miles to get 30 dollars, and he made it to the big stage…But there was one day he wasn’t happy what was going on. I had a match with Kofi Kingston that night for Raw, and it was only to be 8 minutes. Mike Chioda approached me and said ‘We need for you to do another 14 minutes.’ He’s [CM Punk] a guy that believes what he’s saying, what he’s thinking, and because of that he has all of the respect in the world [from me].
