Looking to keep pace with The Hunger Games franchise, Summit Entertainment has unveiled a new trailer for the upcoming release The Divergent Series: Insurgent. Having somewhat enjoyed the original, thanks in large part to Shailene Woodley and the supporting cast, I am somewhat interested in seeing how the story will advance in this second installment in Veronica Roth’s trilogy.
THE DIVERGENT SERIES: INSURGENT raises the stakes for Tris as she searches for allies and answers in the ruins of a futuristic Chicago. Tris (Woodley) and Four (James) are now fugitives on the run, hunted by Jeanine (Winslet), the leader of the power-hungry Erudite elite. Racing against time, they must find out what Tris’s family sacrificed their lives to protect, and why the Erudite leaders will do anything to stop them. Haunted by her past choices but desperate to protect the ones she loves, Tris, with Four at her side, faces one impossible challenge after another as they unlock the truth about the past and ultimately the future of their world.
Insurgent comes from director Robert Schwentke (previously of R.I.P.D., RED and Flightplan). Brian Duffield, a relative newcomer to produced screenplays (having penned Jane Got a Gun), handles part of the scripting duties of the Divergent sequel along with Akiva Goldsman and Mark Bomback.
Shailene Woodley returns to her starring role as Tris and she is joined by Theo James, Octavia Spencer, Jai Courtney, Miles Teller, Ansel Elgort, Maggie Q, plus Naomi Watts, and Kate Winslet.
The Divergent Series: Insurgent opens in theaters March 20, 2015.
