10 Thoughts On… The Celebrity Apprentice – Episode 2 & 3 Review

10 Thoughts, Reviews, Top Story

1. I was absolutely stunned by Donald Trump’s decision to fire Kevin Jonas. I legitimately thought that Sunday’s season premiere was foreshadowing a Geraldo and Kevin finale where Trump would be forced to choose between the grizzled veteran or the new-age social media mogul. To be honest, Jonas’ firing is why I love The Celebrity Apprentice so much. It came out of nowhere and was a complete shock.

2. In reflecting upon Kevin Jonas’ dismissal, it does make sense. While I initially saw the amount of airtime he received in the first and second episodes as being an indicator of a high finish, it instead can now be labeled as traditional reality show editing. The producers decided to focus on Kevin because they knew they didn’t have many episodes to feature him.

3. To be honest, there is no way the men deserved to lose the first task on Monday’s episode. Kevin’s vision for the Neat commercial spot was on point and I legitimately can’t understand how the Neat executives thought that Infinity’s commercial was better. Team Vortex highlighted the multiple uses of the product and while their ad could have featured the logo a little bit more, it certainly was better than the competition’s.

4. Geraldo is the entire show right now. He is clearly the most entertaining contestant on the series and whether you love him or hate him, he is infinitely watchable. The same cannot be said for Sig and Johnny who have really brought nothing to the show thus far.

5. There is no doubt in my mind that Kevin’s decision to bring Ian Ziering to the boardroom was the sole reason he was fired. He didn’t really give Trump a choice as it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that Geraldo was not going to leave on the second episode of the series. Trump was basically begging Jonas to bring in Lorenzo, but the cocky youngster clearly thought that his two against one plan would work. It didn’t.

6. I like Shawn Johnson, but I am completely with Vivica with regard to the Luvo task. Shawn checked out and deserved to be called out for it.

7. While tonight’s episodes were massively entertaining and a significant improvement over the season premiere snoozefest, I am concerned about what the losses of Kevin Jonas and Gilbert Gottfried will mean for the rest of the season. In the first three episodes, those were two of the show’s most entertaining personalities so I am hopeful that the women’s team will continue to bring more drama.

8. It is suicide to bring Geraldo into the boardroom at least until the midway point of the series. He is not going anywhere simply because of the money he is able to raise. I wonder if he had anything to do with Kevin’s early exit. Kevin was clearly one of his biggest detractors and he is instantly gone.

9. The Cosmopolitan task next week looks hilarious.

10. I think Terrell should have been fired, if only to save Gilbert. Anyone else?
