WWE Monday Night Raw Off-Air Report, Dark Matches

News

-This is the first WWE event to sellout in Corpus Christi since we had the Slammys over several years ago. While the opening credits ran, John Cena led the locker room out in the dark and then they cut live to massive booing for Cena.

-The Dolph Ziggler vs. Bad News Barrett match was awesome. A long match that held the crowds interest.

-The Roman Reigns promo came out forced and didn’t get much reaction until the very end, and his match with Big Show compared to Ziggler’s didn’t get nearly the constant cheering. Reigns did get his big spots that had the crowd erupt but personally he is not ready to be the man after WrestleMania.

-When Luke Harper and Erick Rowan were done and leaving, my brother and I saw them hug it out as they made their way to the back.

-There are constant chants of “we want tables” during the Dean Ambrose vs. Bray Wyatt match. We got them and we chanted “this is awesome” and rightfully so. The crowd seemed stunned to see Ambrose lose but he did take Sister Abigail to the the floor, so I was not too surprised after that. The match was all over the building and everyone seemed glued to it.

-The crowd was into Mizdow and his actions. The finish of that match came across weird or shall I say rushed from my point of view.

-Ryback got some good “feed me more” chants prior to and during the match. This match had everyone’s interest as Seth Rollins’ move looks more devastating in person than on TV for sure.

-I saw the arena crew get the balloons ready for the drop for later on in the show.

-Adam Rose came out to boos as we knew this match was filler. The New Day came out to silence. Big E was better off by himself this whole act is terrible and drew some boos and nobody cared when they were attacked. I was happy to see Cesaro and Tyson Kidd break that crap up. I just hope they aren’t part of Rose’s doomed gimmick.

-The ending of Raw came as a shock in the form of the firings of Ziggler, Rowan, and Ryback. We just sat there expecting something more before it ended. I was only disappointed throughout the night with this, as it just ended with the firings and then we went to the dark match.

Following the end of Raw, the three fired wrestlers left disappointed and shortly after there was a set up for a match. Cena said there was no way is he was leaving Whataburger’s hometown without a fight, so he called out Seth Rollins, who came out and then decided to walk off. Cena called him out and he started a “you sold out” chant. The match started and saw J&J Security interfere before the bell ever rang. The match finally started and lasted longer than I expected. It probably went about ten or more minutes. The finish was Big Show coming out and Rollins missing the briefcase shot that ended up hitting Show. Cena used the AA for the win.

-Overall, the best Raw or Smackdown to come here to Corpus Christi.
