TNA had tried to secure a surprise for their debut show on Destination America. Reports are that they tried to get Alberto El Patron (formerly Alberto Del Rio) but he passed.
The most intriguing rumor is that TNA actually approached Adam Copeland aka Edge to be on the show.
Edge was the first guest on Taz’s new podcast which debuted alongside Destination America’s Impact live show.
TNA wanted to have Edge come as the new on-air authority figure, replacing Kurt Angle, who stepped down in the storyline and returned to action as an in-ring wrestler. The deal never even got off the table, as TNA just sent out feelers but Copeland rejected them right away.
