Chris Pratt Rumored For Indiana Jones

News, Rumors

Indiana-Jones

File this one under rumor for now, but there’s some speculation going on that Disney may be dusting off Indiana Jones‘ fedora in the next few years. Having bought the rights to the character from Paramount Pictures in 2013, and with business booming with Marvel superhero characters and teams (The Avengers, Captain America, etc.) and the forthcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens, why not bring back a character who coined the phrase “nuked the fridge” thanks to how bad Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull turned out.

According to Deadline, the studio wants Chris Pratt as the swashbuckling archaeologist they hope to build the new franchise around, the role made famous by Harrison Ford in Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Not sure how I feel about giving the reigns to Pratt and still calling it Indiana Jones. He’s a better choice than Shia LaBeouf, easily, and it would seem sublime having Pratt go from being the Han Solo-esque Star Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy to play the famed archaeologist/treasure seeker. I could conceive a spin-off with Pratt as having been one of Dr. Jones’ pupils to try his hand at seeking fortune and glory only to get in over his head.

Until then, Pratt’s dance card is full with the forthcoming Jurassic World, The Magnificent Seven remake with Denzel Washington and Antoine Fuqua, and the inevitable Guardians of the Galaxy sequel.
