Unless you have been oblivious to comic book movies in development, then you may not have realized that the Fantastic Four has been rebooted. Looking to revamp the mediocrity that was 2005’s Fantastic Four and its 2007 sequel, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, studio Twentieth Century Fox has rebooted and retooled this Stan Lee and Jack Kirby superhero team to make it dark and brooding.
Having watched the teaser, I’m skeptical if it is the right tone, but I’m curious to see what director Josh Trank does with the material. With a cast that includes Miles Teller (Whiplash), Kate Mara (TV’s “House of Cards”), Michael B. Jordan (Fruitvale Station) and Jamie Bell (Snowpiercer), and a high-end look to Trank’s debut, Chronicle, it will be interesting to see how Fantastic Four performs for audiences when it opens August 7, 2015.
