WWE Royal Rumble 2015 Fallout: Extra Wrestlers Brought Backstage To Swerve Internet

News

It seems like WWE worried more about swerving than entertaining…

WWE reportedly had a number of current and former WWE wrestlers come to the 2015 Royal Rumble, suit up backstage, but then not appear on camera.

This was part of a WWE internal initiative to swerve the internet by planting false stories backstage.

Randy Orton was backstage in Philadelphia, but was never planned to be a part of the Rumble.

Another major name was Chris Jericho, who is currently working house shows for WWE but not appearing on TV. He was also backstage but was never on the booking sheets to appear in the Rumble.

Also backstage but not used were Sean Waltman, as well as Nikolai Volkoff, who was even mentioned on the air by Triple H.

None of these wrestlers were part of the final plans for the 2015 Royal Rumble.

One guy who was, however, was Alex Riley. Replaced on the WWE Network panel by Corey Graves, Riley was booked to be part of the Rumble. At the last minute, his role was cut from the Rumble, but it was too late to re-add him to the WWE Network panel, so he ended up not being used at all.
