Hey guys, Back again to catch up on Lucha Underground

Lets get started shall we!

The opening vignette chronicles what happened last week with big Ryck and the week before involving Cage and Prince Puma, as they transition very nicely into a scene involving Cage and Dario Cueto. Cueto tells Cage Prince Puma is here and he will defend his title against Cage tonight. He basically tells Cage he is intrigued by the attitude cage showed to get his title shot on tonights show. After telling cage Puma will defend his title, cage interrupts him by telling Cueto, Puma will lose the title tonight “because he is a machine” and continues to lift wights.

We cut to the Lucha arena with the band getting everyone hyped, Striker and Vampiro are back to get the show started and tell us about a Prince Puma interview before they send us to the first match.

Accompanied by Catrina here comes Mil Muertes, I have enjoyed his kiss of 1000 deaths gimmick he has been doing, and they have continued to book him as a tough brawler. It will be interesting to see what he is going to do since we have not seen him since his loss in Aztec Warfare.

Next out is Fenix, we saw him last in his defeat for the Lucha title, he comes out to a decent pop and i am super interested in how this is going to pan out. Both guys are coming off losses so this should be a good physical match.

Match 1
Mil Muertes VS Fenix

Physical is an understatement for the first match of the night, Muertes is just a monster dishing out major punishment in the early goings. despite his Dominance Fenix continues to keep coming living up to his mystical magic gimmick that comes with the phoenix bird legend. He does a really good job timing and selling and Muertes keeps cutting off any attempt of him changing the momentum. I wouldn’t call this a spot but my favor portion of the match is Mil Muertes relentlessly pounding  Fenix in the corner. He straight up lands 3 viscous straight arm strikes. Commentary puts this over by saying, if Fenix could defend himself he would. The pounding continues as he man handles Fenix and sets him up for a superplex off the top rope.  Overpowering Fenix, Muertes supperplexes him and they both crash to the mat, and in a lucky turn of events Fenix hooks Muertes legs and gets the pin pulling off the upset victory.

Winner Fenix Via Pinfall upset finish.

Muertes is extremely upset as Fenix slides out of the ring looking shocked and hurt, commentary continues pushing the upset as we head to a commercial.

This was SICK Muertes is just a beast and nobody brawls like this and that is getting him over. In fact during the match chants for Fenix were countered with Fenix sucks. The crowd was mostly split for this whole match. The finish through me for a loop and I have to admit I was worked, I felt cheated but that was the point, they clearly know they have something here with Muertes and I am curious as to how he is going to handle this.

More Cage back story when we return to the show. They are really pumping this man up, he gets his own B movie style action sequence and I seriously laughed. It was a bit over done just a bit but from a wrestling stand point that is the point right? So it was good and different. He took on a group of small guys as a recorded over dub of him explaining his history plays. It ends as expected with him standing tall, because “HE IS NOT A MAN, HE IS A MACHINE”. Cue Terminator style music and you’ll have a good idea of how this looked.

Next we are back in the ring for a six man tag match.  Argenis, SUPPER FLY, and Aerostar are in the ring waiting. Next they introduce Cortez Castro, Mr. Cisco and BAEL. These guys get heat right away and they come out to Pero chants and boo’s.

Match 2 six man Tag

Argenis, Supper Fly and Aerostar VS Cortez Castro, Mr Cisco and Bael.

Cortez and Supper Fly start this match off, Commentary reminds everyone of how the goons treated Big Ryck last week. They went with this Bible reference to end up with Vampiro saying its and eye for and eye when Ryck comes back, and I imagine they are setting up future events.  Super Fly shows off a nice Moonsault off the top rope on 2 of the goons on the outside. The faces’ each take turns pulling off technical Lucha high impact moves and is pushed as more of a team for being used to the fast paced style in Mexico. Just when you thought the faces were in complete control, the  now called Sr. Cisco turns the the match around and the 3 goons do their signature face wash drop kicks to Aerostatr in the corner. Sr. Cisco is being put over as the hit man of the goons, and I really enjoy these guys’ work. I have to give the ref some credit for this match he did an awesome job keeping the face team under control allowing the heels to cheat behind his back. The heat is really being brought by the goons and the triple team is going on full steam as the crowd is desperately hoping for an Aerostar hot tag to a partner. After a back and forth by both teams the high spot of the match comes when Argenis does and hurricanrana to Sr. Cisco, who is on the top rope sending them crashing down on all the other lucha’s below outside of the ring. Promptly a Holy Shit chant rings out and I marked a bit myself, it was an awesome spot.  As the match continues the heels come out on top, using the 3D into the code breaker as Stiker calls it getting the pin fall.

Winners Cortez Castro, Sr. Cisco and Beal.

3 man action, I have no words to say other then this was a match to check out. The goons showed they can not just work heel but have good technical skills to boot. The crowd chants Pero as the goons stand tall before we head to commercials. Striker hypes the return of Conan who is  with Prince Puma for an interview and its next.

We return to the interview segment between Vampiro, Conan and Puma, I like how they did this. Vampiro came right out with the hard questions and Conan kept speaking for the champ. Finally Vampiro has enough and calls Conan out, they even let Conan get a bit froggy and challenge Vampiro to back up what his mouth is doing. They tempt a brawl but Conan backs down as Vampiro offers him to fight any time as Puma escorts Conan away. The interview is now over due to the OG Conan and we cut to the arena.

The Champ comes out first which shocked me, but he was accompanied by Conan and they hype the crowd as we head to a commercial.

After the commercial Cage is on his way to the ring, they have done a huge job building this guy on short notice so I am really stoked for this. Just as my excitement is coming to a head Puma attacks right away and leaps out of the ring on top of Cage before he gets in the ring!  They head back in after a brief brawl outside and this starts off with Puma trying to use the ring and creating space. Cage is throwing his weight around continuing to stop Puma’s momentum. Cage hits my favorite move out of his move set where he catches a man in the vertical suplex position then Jack Hammers Pumma down! I enjoyed the High spots from Puma and he held his own chaining moves together, he caught the big man off guard with a suplex of his own causing the frustration in Cage to build. With each near fall Cage is starting to suck down air and commentary puts over Puma for staying alive this long, and as long as the match keeps going Puma’s chances increase because it is clear he has the stamina. Frustration is at and all time high with Cage and he starts getting desperate for a victory, and after a Puma Kick out Cage’s frustration finally boils over when he pushes the ref down. The ref takes a bump and sells but allows the match to continue until Cage kicks Puma square between his legs for the low blow. As the bell rings everyone including me is trying to examine what the hell just happened. Mean while the crowd’s boos fill the arena as Cage continues to beat down Puma until Conan comes from behind and hits him with his cane. Cage proves to be to much for the old timer and resorts to striking Conan with the belt and then ripping the belt in half in a heat of rage, utter disrespect is the term used by Striker to chronicle this sick act being played out before us. I laughed during this entire segment and I really enjoyed Cage straight heeling out. Cage just spat on the legacy and the title of the temple and this has become personal.

Winner Puma VIA Disqualification.

This was a solid finish and ending, I am shocked Conan got in the ring and bladed for this, Puma is in the ring in disgrace holding the pieces of his beloved title with his mentor bloody and battered next to him. Puma won by never getting pinned but lost due to not pinning cage and having his mentor and title destroyed. I liked this because as previously pushed, Cage breaks all the mold of what is a traditional Lucha so he has not an ounce of respect for the culture and honor. Him having a big man hissy fit for not being able to power his way to the victory makes great sense. This was a good finish and we are obviously going to see more from these 2, Puma really needs to get his redemption for this embarrassment.

After the ending of the main event a women attacks Dario Cueto in his office, this is actually the same women from week 1/15/15 who I thought was Catrina. She claims she is looking for a man and gives a name none of us have heard before, I hear Matonza and the episode closes with Dario Cueto and all of us confused.

Tonight was a good show and I would definitely say check out the matches, alright guys I will have another one next week, and I can’t wait to see how this pans out. Tell me what you think, cheers!
