DC Comics Convergence #3 Spoilers Preview 4Leading up to this, we’ve had some interesting developments in the issues that have shipped weekly so far:

  • Convergence #0 spoilers here.
  • Convergence #1 spoilers here.
  • Convergence #2 spoilers here.

As a reminder, we’ve heard from writer Jeff King that Earth 2’s Dick Grayson will have a huge role in Convergence, and that seemed to be slowly building with the aid he and the Earth 2 Batman (Thomas Wayne) received from the pre-Flashpoint Batman (Bruce Wayne) last week.

In addition, Convergence so far appears to pick right up after the from the end of Earth 2 World’s End #26 (spoilers for that issue here) and set up the post-Convergence new ongoing series Earth 2 Society.

With that, Convergence #3 spoilers follow for this week’s weekly chapter / edition of DC Comics’ 2015 event’s core weekly series. As do spoilers for Convergence Hawkman #1 and Convergence Green Lantern #1. All via shiny official teaser pages released by DC Comics in the form of previews.

Convergence #3 Spoilers

Convergence #3 picks up right where DC Comics’ Convergence #2 left off last week. We see the Earth 2 Justice Society saving Deimos from the drone watchers of the now un-domed cities. Wondering who Deimos is in DC Comics lore? Then check this out.

Convergence Hawkman #1 Spoilers

One of my favorite eras in comics was the mid to late 1980’s. It really was a golden age for comics, particularly DC Comics. The Shadow War of Hawkman was a great 4-issue mini-series that spawned an ongoing Hawkman series that lasted 17 issues. I believe it was followed by the Hawkworld mini-series by writer=artist Tim Truman which also begat an ongoing series kicked off by creators John Ostrander and artist Tim Truman. Well, for this Convergence tie-in, DC Comics got Tim Truman to do the art chores. Bazinga!

Convergence Green Lantern Corps #1 Spoilers

Convergence also revisits another classic mid to late 1980’s period in Convergence Green Lantern Corps #1. Artist Dave Gibbons joined the Green Lantern series at #172 followed by artist Joe Staton later on and the series morphed in a Green Lantern Corps and it ended with issue #200. During the pre-GLC issues, we had the debut of the Predator, Hal Jordan quit being Green Lantern, replaced by John Stewart who unmasked to the world and Guy Gardner got a ring too and caused some hijinks. While the writers were decent on this long run, the art in my opinion was the standout. Well, for Convergence Green Lantern Corps #1, DC Comics seems to be using an artist that channels Joe Station quite well!

If you are interested in that 1980’s Green Lantern run that kicked off with artist Dave Gibbons, DC Comics has collected in three trade paperback volumes called Green Lantern: Sector 2814. Well worth the money.

Also, here’s some classic 1980’s Shadow War of Hawkman and its spin-off ongoing series for you… available at a dollar bin near you! I don’t think DC Comics has collected these in any format. Hawkman #8 has one of my fave covers of the 1980’s.
