Jennifer Love Hewitt will not be returning to Criminal Minds.
While the show is still waiting to find out if it will return for a new season, it appears that the former Party Of Five star has already made up her mind. On Wednesday’s Season 11 finale, Hewitt’s character, Kate Callahan handed her resignation in to Hotch, saying that she wanted to focus on her new baby.
Criminal Minds showrunner Erica Messer confirmed Hewitt’s exit to EW.com, and revealed that the character’s storyline mirrored Hewitt’s real story and that the actress wanted to focus on her second pregnancy/child, due in July.
“There was an opportunity there to write towards the truth,” Messer said of art imitating life. “Jennifer wanted to be able to give this second baby everything she gave her first, and that’s taking time off to be a full-time mom.”
