Murtz On The Scene: Big Brother Canada 3 – Day After Season Finale Interview With Runner-Up Godfrey Mangwiza

The day after Sarah Hanlon was named the winner of Big Brother Canada 3, I headed to the backyard to do extended interviews with the entire cast. I caught up with the show’s runner-up, Godfrey Mangwiza, to discuss his $100,000 decision (where he decided to take Sarah to the end instead of Ashleigh). I asked the ‘Lady Pleasah’ if he had any regrets about taking his fellow Torontonian in front of the jury where Sarah ultimately secured seven votes to take home the big prize. I asked Godfrey if his choice was influenced by a degree of obligation to Sarah and Brittnee (as they protected him on so many different occasions). Godfrey explained the rationale behind taking Sarah over Ashleigh and explained to me how he thought the votes would go, ultimately revealing that he presumed all members of the Diaper Alliance would vote for Ashleigh which is why he decided to go with his other option. I asked Godfrey if he regretted his ‘I want your blood on these hands’ speech after he reached the Final 2 (as it likely resulted in him losing Zach’s vote automatically), but the psychology student disagreed and said that the quarterback’s superfan status would ensure he voted for the best player. I quizzed the Zimbabwe-born houseguest about his pre-show interviews where he said that he would bring a ring into the house and then plant it on another player who was in a showmance (signalling to his partner that he was already in a committed relationship and causing total chaos as a result), and why he decided not to use this macabre scheme. Godfrey revealed that despite his newly-minted status as the game’s resident wordsmith, he winged most of his speeches in the house and did not prep them beforehand. I also asked Mangwiza about whether his longevity in the house was bittersweet in the sense that he made it all the way to the end but fell just a few votes short of winning. Godfrey said that he is happy that some fans of the show will remember what he accomplished in the house and that he won’t just be another forgettable houseguest. Godfrey also revealed which houseguest he thought was the hottest when he entered the house. Finally, I tried his dance one more time. Check out the video above!
