Fox Home Entertainment has announced the Blu-ray arrival of its Fox Searchlight Pictures release Far From the Madding Crowd. Arriving in stores on August 1, 2015, the period romance drama stars Carey Mulligan as a headstrong Victorian beauty, based on the literary classic by Thomas Hardy. Mulligan plays Bathsheba Everdene, an independent woman who attracts three different suitors: a sheep farmer (Bullhead‘s Matthias Schoenaerts); a dashing soldier (Tom Sturridge); and a prosperous, older bachelor (Michael Sheen).
The Blu-ray is set to have a number of special features, including deleted scenes (and alternate ending) and several behind-the-scenes featurettes about Bathsheba Everdene and her suitors; bringing the novel to screen; the look and locations of Far From the Madding Crowd; plus the theatrical trailer and special profile on filmmaker Thomas Vinterberg.
