The Fall 2015 TV season is upon us and there is so much fun to be had! There are a whopping number of shows returning and having their premieres, many of which are critical and audience darlings or have big names attached. We’ve gathered what we think are the top 25 shows to look out for this fall, which we’ll put out over the next five days.

Please note that superhero TV shows (with one exception) have not been included on the list. Arrow, Supergirl, Gotham, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, The Flash, Agent Carter, Lucifer, Legends of Tomorrow, Jessica Jones, Daredevil, Iron Fist, Luke Cage, The Defenders, and Krypton will not be considered because if we let in one DC or Marvel show, it will lead to basically a list of superhero shows. So for the sake of shining a light on shows that don’t have characters in capes, enjoy the first 5 of our 25 Fall Tv shows to look out for.

Doctor Who (Sat, Sep 19, BBC America)

What is it: The seemingly unstoppable British Sci-Fi series centers around “The Doctor,” who has been played by no less than 12 different actors. Peter Capaldi starts his second season this fall as the alien Time Lord, a being who has the ability to travel across time and space.

Why you should watch: The show is perennially good television and doesn’t require having extensive knowledge of the universe to enjoy. It’s a reliable staple of sic-fi and almost always good television. Even if you’re unfamiliar with the show, now is a good time to jump in. Binge watch Capaldi’s first season and you’ll be champing at the bit to follow him for Season 9.
