ROH TV 09/16 Results and Review (House of Truth vs ReDragon, The Kingdom vs War Machine)

Results

Taped at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, this was the go home show for the September 18th All Star Extravaganza PPV. The episode featured promos from Silas Young, The Briscoes and Jay Lethal. Young was absolute gold, once again.

The House of Truth (Donovan Dijak and Jay Diesel) w/Truth Martini vs  IWGP Junior Tag Team Champions ReDRagon (Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish) (non-title)

Jay Lethal is on commentary and does a good job of hyping his upcoming matches against both members of ReDragon. Solid match wit The House of Truth trying their best to isolate O’Reilly before the inevitable hot tag. Diesel ends up tapping out to Fish’ ankle lock while O’Reilly catches Dijak with a sleeper. Post-match Lethal loses it and gets into a shoving match with both members of ReDragon. Officials break this up while Kevin Kelly comments that Lethal may be losing his grip on reality.

Winner: ReDragon. Fun match.

Cedric Alexander with Veda Scott vs Dalton Castle with his Boys

Silas Young is on commentary to hype his upcoming match against Castle. It’s amazing how over Castle and the Boys are over with the ROH crow. That gimmick should be ridiculous, but somehow Castle makes it work. In the end Young goes after the Boys, causing a distraction allowing Alexander to roll-up Castle for the pinfall. Post-match Stokeley Hathaway comes out with a wrench, Moose also comes out and nails Alexander with a spear. A no-DQ match is announced between Alexander and Moose for the PPV.

Winner: Alexander

Mandy Leon’s Inside ROH segment is interrupted by Adam Cole who talks about the 4-way Nr 1 Contender match involving himself, A.J. Styles, Roderick Strong and Michael Elgin.

The Kingdom (Michael Bennett and Matt Taven) with Maria Kanellis vs War Machine (Hanson and Rowe)

In what was a theme for this show, not great but fun and enjoyable, designed to hype the different matches for the PPV. War Machine continues to impress. Maria tried her usual distraction routine towards he end, prompting The Young Bucks to come out and tease a double superkick on her. Double chokeslam on Bennett, Fallout on Taven and War Machine picks up a big win. While Hanson and Rowe are not in Friday’s PPV, they are clearly being prepped for bigger things.

Winner: War Machine

Fun little show, with all eyes already on All Star Extravaganza.

I've been following wrestling for almost 30 years now, and the metal scene for even longer. And let's just say that all that head-banging has left me with some weird ideas that i will share with you from time to time. Aren't you glad?
