NJPW World Tag League 2015 Day 11

News, Results

Three more matches to review today so let’s start with:

A BLOCK: Christopher Daniels and Frankie Kazarian defeated Yuji Nagata and Manabu Nakanishi in 9:23 via pinfall:

Pretty much the same as every Addiction match in this tournament. Nothing bad, but also nothing memorable. Daniels and Nagata worked together for a long time which delivered some good sequences. Match dragged as soon as Nakanishi was tagged in. Daaniels took care of the Immobile One and used the ropes to pin Nagata. Both teams have now wrestled all their matches. Slightly disappointing first NJPW run for The Addiction.

A BLOCK: Bad Luck Fale and Tama Tonga defeated Hiroshi Tanahashi and Michael Elgin in 13:56 via pinfall:

I was expecting more out of this match to be honest, considering it involved Tanahashi, Elgin and the very underrated Tama Tonga. But Tanahashi kinda took a day off leaving Elgin to do power spots with Fale. One of the reasons I’ve been advocating a tag team run for Fale is that his in-ring time is (normally)) cut in half that way. Not so here as Fale more or less took the lead for his team which is never a good idea. Even Elgin couldn’t work miracles in these circumstances. Rather surprising win for Fale and Tonga here as Elgin got pinned by Fale after a spear and Lariat combo. Elgin and Tanahashi have one more match (against Sakuraba and Yano) and will then have to wait for the result of Honma/Makabe vs Okada/YOSHI-HASHI on the last day to know their fate.

B BLOCK: Shinsuke Nakamura and Tomohiro Ishii defeated Hiroyoshi Tenzan and Satoshi Kojima in 15:02 via pinfall:

Good match, just as you would expect from those two teams. That’s what I like about the Nakamura/Ishii team, they have the chemistry of a regular tag team like TenKoji, which is, obviously, always an advantage in such tournaments. Lots of back and forth, with both teams gaining dominance at various points, making it uncertain who would pick up the win. As said some great double-team moves by Nakamura and Ishii, which where counter-balanced by TenKoji’s own signature moves. Ishii tried to whip Nakamura into Kojima towards the end but got a lariat for his troubles. Unfortunately for Kojima he then walked right into a pair of Boma Yé’s and that was the end for him. Good stuff. Nakamura and Ishii have one more match, against Anderson and Gallows on the last day.

I've been following wrestling for almost 30 years now, and the metal scene for even longer. And let's just say that all that head-banging has left me with some weird ideas that i will share with you from time to time. Aren't you glad?
