Welcome to What To Look Forward To!
New This Week
Batman / Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1 – DC seems to have a few crossover events going recently (see Green Lantern/Star Trek and the upcoming Batman ‘66 Meets The Man from U.N.C.L.E.) and I hope it doesn’t stop. Despite the release of these crossover series, this is one I don’t think anyone was expecting. With the TMNT meeting up with Batman, it’s probably fair to assume this will be a darker side of the Turtles like in the original comics, as opposed to the more kid-friendly “Pizza Time!” turtles. From the mind of James Tynion IV (Batman Eternal, The Woods, Memetic) and the pen of Freddie Williams II (The Movement, Robin) this is one you won’t want to miss.
Gwenpool Special #1 – Even if you haven’t jumped on the Spider-Gwen train yet, you can’t pass up on this issue that’s part Gwen-Pool and part Marvel Universe holiday special.
Star Wars Annual #1 – The Star Wars books, including the flagship series, Darth Vader, and the other mini-series released, have been some of the most consistently enjoyable books in my list lately. Maybe it’s the nostalgia, but there’s no way I’m missing this annual. While annuals tend to cost another buck or two, the extra pages and (sometimes) bonus material make it worth it.
Snow Blind #1 – Sounds like an interesting premise, and after The Kitchen I’m certainly an Ollie Masters fan. Plus, anything that’s compared to the noir stylings of 100 Bullets and Scalped is certainly worth a look.
Scarlet Witch #1 – With an all-star team of James Robinson (Starman) Vanessa Del Rey (Hit, Hit 1957) and covers by David Aja (Hawkeye), this is a can’t miss for any Avengers and/or X-Men fan.
A few other issues to look forward to: The Massive: Ninth Wave #1, Star Trek / Green Lantern #6 (FINAL ISSUE), Violent #1, We Stand On Guard #6 (FINAL ISSUE)
