Blu-Ray Review – Sinister 2

Blu-ray Reviews, Film, Reviews, Top Story

What happens when you make a horror film cheaply enough that a good marketing plan can help you cross double digits in profit when all is said and done? Make a sequel. After Sinister would up nearing $100 million in box office receipts against a budget of less than $10 million a sequel would be greenlit as fast as it could following a near $20 million opening domestically.

Simple premise. A protective mother (Shannyn Sossamon) and her twins (Robert and Dartanian Sloan) wind up in the clutches of Bughuul after the events of the first film. The film follows them as they deal with the shenanigans involved, setting up perhaps another sequel down the road.

The first film in the series was interesting in how it developed its villain and this is just another generic sequel in the genre. While the first at least something new, with a villain that was fairly inventive, this is just a sequel that isn’t much more than a remake of the first.

Recommendation to avoid.

Some deleted and extended scenes are included as well as an EPK piece and a commentary track with the director.
