The day after they were named the winners of Big Brother Canada 4, I headed into the HOH Room to do an extended interview with the winners, Nick & Phil Paquette. I asked the brothers how they were able to fly under-the-radar at the beginning of the game and avoid being targeted despite having such an obvious advantage over the other houseguests. I asked Phil to talk about the pair’s final jury performance and how they managed to use the opportunity to communicate their game to the jury in a very effective manner. Nick elaborated on the tumultuous relationship he shared with his brother prior to entering the house and how the Big Brother Canada experience almost served as relationship therapy to get them together again. I quizzed Phil about all of Nick’s competition wins and if his dominance would lead to him getting a bigger portion of the $100,000 they are taking home. I asked Nick about how he was able to keep it in check when Nick decided not to put up Cassandra under the premise of a deal where she promised not to use the veto on Tim if she won (which, as we know, is what she ended up doing). I told the brothers about Joel’s post-eviction interview where he said that they were lying just as much as everyone else was despite their constant claims of playing an ‘honest’ game and Phil revealed what he felt was their biggest strategic move of the game. Finally, I end the interview by asking the brothers about Tim and whether the Australian’s popularity almost makes fans of the show respect their game less.
