According to Deadline Hollywood, Netflix has given a 10-episode order of a new comedy inspired by the real story of the female wrestling league of the 1980s, G.L.O.W. (Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling), which ran for four seasons and included sketches, songs, and wrestling. A promotion of big hair and body slams, the comedy-series will be shepherd by “Orange is the New Black” creator/executive producer Jenji Kohan and co-executive producer Tara Herrmann.
“G.L.O.W.” will revolve around an out-of-work actress who gets one last attempt to live her life as a starlet in a weekly series about female wrestlers.
From that one sentence description it sounds like a kitschy, hair-pulling, Irish-whip version of Aaron Sorkin’s short-lived “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.”
