Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Beyond the Known Universe picks up the series in an unexpected place since the Earth was destroyed. I know that’s a bit of a shocker. But the only survivors appear to be the Turtles and a few of their human friends thanks to the Fugitoid (Doctor Who‘s David Tennant). The Triceratons have gone beyond the Apes in global eradication. These 12 episodes have them doing their best to fly through space looking to go back in time to save Earth. By putting the turtles in modified space suits, they’ve really opened up the episodes. Small kids might be a bit scared at the concept of the Earth blowing up. Luckily the talk in the show is about bringing the planet back so that calms things down.
Blaze and the Monster Machines: Fired Up! has four episodes of the popular Nick series about trucks that talk. The episodes include “Fired Up!,’ “Five Alarm Blaze,” “Trouble at the Truck Wash” and “Sneezing Cold.” They appeal to kids who like to make their toy trucks seem human. “Sneezing Cold” will come in hand for small kids about to enjoy their first cold and flu season this winter.
Here’s Josie’s talk on Turtles and Trucks:
The video is 1.78:1 anamorphic. The transfers look good on both shows since they are recent CGI prouctions. The audio is Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround. You’ll heard turtles and trucks wrapping around your speakers.
Kicking Shells and Taking Names (20:20) pretty much sums up the last three seasons of the popular Nick series.
No bonus features for Blaze.
