Vestron Video Classics Waxwork & Waxwork II: Lost In Time Coming To Blu-ray

News

Vestron Video lives! Back in the 1980s, and outside of the major studios, you had labels like Action International Pictures (A.I.P.), Imperial Entertainment, MGM/UA, and of course Vestron Video. While theatrically it would release the ’80s dance hit Dirty Dancing, they are renowned for its cult and horror classics. You could find them in Mom & Pop VHS rental shops with some pretty impressive and elaborate cover art (check out this gallery over at CriticOnline). However with the advent of DVD and Blu-ray, Vestron Video became but a distant memory.

But not anymore.

The label has been resurrected by Lionsgate and these forgotten titles are being repackaged as limited-edition Blu-rays with spine labels. Much like the Criterion Collection and the most recent Shout Select (from Shout! Factory), where spine labels represent a new entry in the series, the Vestron Video Collector’s Series looks to attract fans of cult films and the obscure. Having already announced its first two titles, Chopping Mall and Blood Diner, this latest announcement is not a shock. We are finally getting Waxwork and Waxwork II: Lost in Time! This double feature (arriving October 18) will be No. 3 in the series and will contain all-new special features.

Inside the wax museum a group of teenagers are aghast at the hauntingly lifelike wax displays of Dracula, the Wolfman, the Mummy, and other character members of the Horror Hall of Fame. Each display is perfectly grotesque, yet each is missing one thing . . . a victim! Admission to the WAXWORK was free but now they may pay with their lives! One by one, the students are drawn into the settings as objects of the blood thirsty creatures. They are now part of the permanent collection.
