DC Comics Rebirth’s Suicide Squad #1 spoilers and review follow!
Looks like the bifurcated creative teams for Suicide Squad has begun! We have the main opening story drawn by Jim Lee and Deadshot focussed back-up by Jason Fabok; both written by Rob Williams.
Looks like Harley Quinn has bought into DC Comics Rebirth that she bought the t-shirt too! We also get a nice look at the Suicide Squad team to open the book.
Task Force X head Amanda Waller sends the team on a mission to recover a cosmic artifact. Well, that does feel fresh for this time. Waller also reminds folks she has no qualms about popping their skulls with the embedded naninte bombs if they disobey or…, I guess, vex… her.
Steal or destroy the artifact; field leader Rick Flag has a plan and the team gets… dropped from the sky into the mission!
Flag coerces June Moon to become Enchantress to help break their freefall, but she is a bit… off or is that evil?!
Will the team die, under water, in the arctic? Drown or freeze to death? We’ll find out next issue.
Then we get a closer look at Deadshot! The honorable assassin?
He’s hired by Kobra to kill Bruce Wayne. Deadshot sets his $3 million price, but…
…Kobra wants a family discount to zero as they have kidnapped his daughter Zoe Lawton!
Deadshot and Batman team up to save Zoe. Deashot was to spare the kidnapper, but…
…he kills him going back on his word to Batman.
Deadshot walks away from his daughter, asks Batman to protect her, and cart himself back to prison!
So…
Awesome art on both stores. I’ll have to gt used to this format for abridged main story with personnel back-ups. They have done this with the Suicide Squad before the 1980’s, but if this is the only way I get Jim Lee art in a book twice monthly I’ll take it! Love the new logo for the book; its the second best logo since the original 1980’s one!
