Suicide Squad #2 DC Comics Rebirth spoilers & review follow.
The Suicide Squad in its modern form is no stranger to character deaths. Blockbuster died on their first mission in the Legends mini-series of the 1980s against Brimstone and Mindboggler died at the hands to the Jihad, with Captain Boomerang unwilling to help her.
So, I was expecting some death in this DC Rebirth iteration of the team, but I was note expecting this.
Captain Boomerang, aka Digger Harkness, died! He has been a stalwart on the team since its inception, but he did also die in the past being replaced by a son in the pre-Flashpoint era as Captain Boomerang, aka Owen Mercer. Owen’s mother was Meloni Thawne, of Reverse Flash lineage, which meant that that young Captain Boomerang has some super-speed. Will the son be coming into DC Rebirth soon?
Anyhow, the team is stunned at Captain Boomerang’s death, but more stunned at the foil they tackle in two weeks…
…General Zod of Krypton! Can the Squad take on a Superman?
In the back-up feature focuses on Captain Boomerang as well in conversation with Amanda Waller. The story contrasts how Boomerang seems himself…
and how others do.
So…
Didn’t expect the Boomerang and Zod surprises in main story; this is a must read book based on story and art!
