The Green Lanterns DC Rebirth heroes, featuring brand new Green Lantern wielders Simon Baz and Jessica Cruz, may well be the best Green Lantern Corps book on stands from DC Comics; sorry Hal Jordan and the Green Lanterns Corps (featuring Hal Jordan, John Stewart, Guy Gardner and soon Kyle Rayner as well).

Spoilers follow.

I found the end of Green Lanterns #6 interesting; it shipped a week late which means it came just one week before this week’s Green Lanterns #7. So you get a two-for-one Green Lanterns review which:

  • Reveals a tease for Red Dawn.
  • Debuts the Phanton Ring
  • Reveals who are the big bads after said ring
  • Teases the return of another big bad later in 2016 in Green Lanterns #12
  • Reveals the cover to Green Lanterns #8

A lot going on here! Enjoy, please. 🙂

DC Comics Rebirth Spoilers & Review follow for Green Lanterns #6.

Green Lanterns #6 had a two-fer ending. The first sets up the next “Phantom Ring” and “Phantom Lanterns” arcs. After defeated teh Red Lanterns, the two Earth-both Green Lanterns come home with Simon Baz meeting up with his nephew Farid!

The reunion is interrupted by Rami the Rogue Guardians who was banished a long time ago for…

…creating the Phantom Ring! THIS is now the most powerful weapon in the multiverse?

The second ending teasing a future arc with the Red Lanterns. While the Red Lanterns were beaten by the Green Lanterns, their mission was a success with…

…a Red Lanterns threat growing in the heart of Earth’s core with…

…a Red Dawn coming!

A pretty solid issue and I’m stoke for more of this Phantom Ring!

DC Comics Rebirth Spoilers & Review follow for Green Lanterns #7.

Green Lantern Simon Baz’s nephew is amused and intrigued by a meditating Rogue Guardian Rami.

Leading to some fun moments, but…

…Rami bolts leaving the Green Lanterns perplexed.

However, Rami knows who is after him and the Phantom Ring! It’s the…

I enjoyed the family moments for Jessica Cruz with her family and Simon Baz with his. They clearly have challenges in their own families, but they support each other through them and we get some genuine feeling moments in the book. The pages interspersed in the book leading into Phantom Ring arc were the most compelling for me. Loving this book.

Who Are The Dominators?

The Dominators are described as follows:

The Dominators, collectively known as the Dominion, are an alien race from the outer cosmos of the universe. They are highly technologically advanced, and live in a rigid hierarchical society, in which one’s caste is determined by the size of a red circle on one’s forehead. They are master geneticists who can manipulate the meta-gene to enhance members of their own caste.

I’ve always liked these odd looking aliens as a sci-fi DC threat.

The Dominators were a big part of one of my fave 1980’s events, 1988’s Invasion! described as follows:

The Dominators were the chief instigators behind the Alien Alliance that invaded Earth. The Dominators believed that the unpredictable evolutionary tendencies of Earth’s metahumans posed a clear and present danger to the state of the universe.

When the invasion was beginning to crumble and turning to Earth’s favor, one Dominator created a ‘Gene Bomb’ and detonated it in Earth’s atmosphere that would affect many individuals that possess the metagene…

The trade paperback is highly recommended!

First Look At Green Lanterns #7 & #12.

We also got a cool look at Green Lanterns #7 cover as the cover in the October 2016 DC solicitations was used for the cover to issue #7.

The cover to November 2016’s Green Lanterns #10 seems legit from the DC solicits for that month.

That said, this week DC Comics released their December 2016 solicitations. That cover to Green Lanterns #12 is intriguing.

Who is the Phantom Lantern from DC Comics December 2016 solicitations?

“THE PHANTOM LANTERN” part five! The Phantom Lantern controls all aspects of the emotional spectrum, but can Green Lanterns Jessica Cruz and Simon Baz figure out which of those powers can also defeat their new enemy?

Who Wields The Phantom Ring?

The solicit notes that the Phantom Lantern “villain from Jessica’s past“?

Could it be the Earth 3 Crime Syndicate’s Power Ring despite dying during Forever Evil?

Its possible in the DC Rebirth era we get a rebirth CSA? However, the silhouette of the Phantom Lantern from Green Lanterns #12 looks more like a Parallax? Or herhaps a Power Ring reminisicent of the version from the Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths Blu-Ray?

An interesting arc or two ahead!
