New This Week:
She Changed Comics – Beginning as a Kickstarter project, now released through The Comic Book Legal Defense Fund and Image, comes the definitive history of women in the industry. From the creative minds of several of today’s top creators, this is a can’t-miss for anyone interested in comics or history. Suitable for all ages.
Cage #1 – Just in time for new fans of the Luke Cage Netflix series, Cage is written and drawn by TV cartoon veteran Genndy Tartakovsky (Samurai Jack, Powerpuff Girls). Personally, he is the main draw for me to this series, but I am looking forward to checking out the show soon as well.
Jessica Jones #1 – Well-timed with the new Cage series, fans have been looking forward to this one for awhile now.
Moonshine #1 – The legendary team of Azzarello & Risso (100 Bullets, Flashpoint: Knight of Vengeance) reunite for what I’m sure will be the next classic Image series. Set during Prohibition, this is sure to please and fan of history and crime. Also, look for the Frank Miller variant.
Deadman: The Dark Mansion of Forbidden Love #1 – While not seemingly tied to Rebirth, I’m sure Boston Brand will work his way into the newest shade of the DCU. Meanwhile, this mini-series has Deadman stuck in a gothic mansion with a young woman who can speak to the dead.
Midnighter and Apollo #1 – The fan favorites return! Midnighter made a huge splash in Grayson and readers can’t get enough of him yet.
Injustice: Gods Among Us, Year Five #19 – The next to last issue (aside from the Annual). Though I’m glad there will be a new series in a couple months, this feels like the end of an era.
