DC Comics Rebirth Spoilers and Review follow for Hal Jordan & The Green Lantern Corps #10.
The issue opens with readers getting a look at Brainiac 2.0’s lair and…
…and look for DC Rebirth. Very much the 1980’s “Super Powers” Brainiac version not the green-skinned alien version.
He’s / it’s collected a few Green Lanterns and Sinestro-Yellow Lanterns in a bottled city. For what purpose?
At the same time, Ganthet and Sayd explain to White Lantern Kyle Rayner why they need him.
Hal Jordan’s ring is Hal Jordan and they need Kyle Rayner to pull him out if it!
In the ring, Hal Jordan is in the Emerald Space a seeming Valhalla for all the GLC members who died with honor.
All means all. We see John Stewart’s first wife Katma Tui, Tomar Ty’s dad Tomar Re and others who want to know what has happened in the real world to their families. So, the Emerald Space is locked away from reality. The GLC here can’t look down on the world from a heaven so to speak.
Abin Sur mentions to Hal Jordan that when he returns to reality he needs to bring Hope back into the universe. The logical leap there is that the universe needs a Blue Lantern; hmmm, I guess I’m not up-to-speed on Saint Walker in DC Rebirth.
At the same time, Kyle Rayner, assisted by Ganthet and Sayd, attempt to get Hal Jordan out of his ring.
It requires great effort, but Hal Jordan returns!
We also learn who Brainiac 2.0 is bottling cities for now, and particularly the one with Green Lanterns and Yellow Lanterns, it’s…
…the Orange Lantern Larfleeze!
So…
Great art and compelling story. Lots of Lantern emotional spectrum lore here. Great to see this version of Brainiac back, plus Kyle Rayner and Larfleeze. Plus we’ll hace a reinvention of the Hope Corps, the Blue Lanterns, through this arc. Good stuff! 8 out of 10.
