The book opens with Maxwell Lord explaining to his “villain” compatriots what ties to them together: Hate. Hate for Amanda Waller. And, then that’s it for them this issue.

The bulk of the issue is Suicide Squad member matching up against Justice League members. A memorable one was:

  • Captain Boomerang vs. The Flash…

…leading to a likely outcome…

…betrayal of the Suicide Squad by Captain Boomerang!

The other match-ups where interesting in the issue:

  • Killer Frost vs. Cyborg
  • Killer Croc vs. Aquaman
  • Green Lanterns vs. El Diablo
  • Deadshot vs. Batman
  • Harley Quinn vs. Wonder Woman…

And…

  • Enchantress vs. Superman…

Enchantress beat Superman due to his weakness to magic and then Killer Frost steals his life force and becomes ultra-powerful leading to the Justice League’s defeat!

Batman…

…the rest of the Justice League are now trapped in the bowels of Belle Reve…

…prisoners of Amanda Waller and her Suicide Squad…

…as Maxwell Lord and his villains are set to storm the prison after a prize of some sort!

And here is the cover to Justice League vs. Suicide Squad #3!

It was released last week and spoiled the end to this issue!

DC Comics would also like to wish you all Happy Holidays.

So…

An entertaining issue. I wish there was more of Maxwell Lord’s crew in this issue, but this remains the era of decompressed storytelling and writing for the trade paperback. Compelling story bu Josh Williamson and solid pencils by Tony McDaniel through as DC Comics rotates its top artists through this issue six issues twice monthly mini-series. 8 out of 10.
